Static electricity was the cause of the explosion at the Chemplex plant, located off FM 576, south of Breckenridge.
The determination was announced by a fire investigator by the insurance company employed by Chemplex.
Breckenridge Fire Department chief Malcolm Bufkin said the company has completed its cleanup and was going to conduct more samples to ensure that every item associated with the fire is in good standing.
The explosion occurred around 11:45 a.m. Monday, May 6, when two employees were transferring liquids from one container to another.
