Barbara Lewis, age 68 of Breckenridge, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 25, at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Bearden officiating.
Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
Barbara Ellen Bledsoe was born Dec. 12, 1944, in Ranger, to parents James Bledsoe and Lillian Willitt Bledsoe. She acquired her Bachelors Degree from Midwestern University in Applied Arts and Sciences.
In 1976, Barbara went to work for TXU/Oncor and continued to work there until she retired in 2006 after 27 years of dedicated service.
She married James Lewis in March 1967 in Eastland.
She was a member of the Rotary Club, assisted with the Rebuild Breckenridge Project, Carter Blood Drives and she also enjoyed gardening.
Barbara was an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church and was involved in the food pantry ministry.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers: Gene Bledsoe and Leonard Bledsoe; and two sisters: Inez Dumith and Virginia Terry.
Barbara is survived by her husband, James Lewis of Breckenridge; two children: James Lewis, Jr. and wife Nikki of Ruidoso Downs, N.M. and Melissa Thompson and husband Bobby of Breckenridge; one sister, Violet Daskevich of Breckenridge; one brother, Jim Bledsoe and wife Sharon of Houston; seven grandchildren: Kay Reed, Cheyenne Nease, Colton Lewis, Zaine Lewis, Lauren Thompson, Morgan Thompson and Logan Thompson; one great-grandchild, Noah James Nease.
