Breckenridge-Elmer J. Thompson, 95, died Monday, July 8, 2013, in Breckenridge.
Funeral service with Charles Kuhn officiating will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, in the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.
Interment will follow in the Caddo Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Elmer was born on Dec. 17, 1917 in Caddo, to Henry Calvin and Jessie Anna Thompson. He was married to Elizabeth Green and she preceded him in death on May 23, 1989.
Mr. Thompson was a rancher, member of the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association,  member of the First Christian Church where he was Sunday School Superintendent for 22 years, and was a US Air Corps Veteran of WWII having served in China. Elmer was the last surviving member of the Caddo Ranching family that settled the community in 1875.
Survivors include two cousins and numerous friends that were like family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Marshall Thompson.
