The city of Breckenridge is looking toward installing the Code Red Emergency Communications Network.
The system will provide a community-wide call to alert citizens for local emergency situations such as weather notices, Amber Alerts, boil water notices, missing persons and other instances in where community notification is needed.
The cost will be $4,500 a year and Mahan said it is an item that is included in the 2013-2014 budget.
“It will only help our community become more aware when emergencies happen,” he said. “We want to make sure our citizens have every opportunity to know that something involving weather or  any emergency notice is going to happen so they can make preparations for safety.”
