Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today, Aug. 24, at Bethany Baptist Church in Breckenridge, Rev. Don Bearden will officiate, with interment following at the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
Lorena was born to parents Sam Houston Richardson and Beulah Heairren Richardson on Aug. 4, 1923, in Parks Camp, Stephens County, where her family lived while her father was employed by the Texas Oil Company (now Texaco).
Lorena enjoyed learning throughout her childhood years in the Breckenridge schools, during her education at Texas Wesleyan University, and throughout her life. Lorena married Aaron Art Mehaffey on Aug. 25, 1946, in Breckenridge and they made their home there for most of their married life of more than 66 years.
Lorena was a founding member of Bethany Baptist Church in Breckenridge, and she taught Sunday School class there for 49 years.
Lorena and Aaron enjoyed their years residing at Hubbard Creek Lake, especially following her retirement after 25 years of employment by Community Public Service Company.
Lorena and Aaron moved in 2012 to Eastland, to begin the last chapter of their life together.
Lorena is survived by her husband, Aaron, of Eastland; son, Dana Mehaffey and wife Beverly of Cisco; daughter, Dianne Garrison and husband Rick of Georgetown; grandson, Jerrod Worsham and wife Kelli of Georgetown; and granddaughter, Sarah Wells and husband Robby of Weatherford.
Lorena is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Sierra Worsham of Georgetown; Taylor and Chandler Duncan, and Kameron and Gracie Wells of Weatherford.
Lorena is predeceased by her parents, brothers: John D.Richardson, Richard L. Richardson, Virgil R. Richardson and sister Billie Jean Richardson.
