Harold "Jonesey" Lehr passed away October 1, 2013 at his home in Graham. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 6, 2013 at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home in Graham. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 3-5 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born January 15, 1924 in Oil City in Young County. Harold had a hard young life growing up in the depression and left home at age 17 to work in California and later the CCC Camp and the US Army. He worked as a rig builder in Texas, Mexico and New Mexico and later opened and operated the well-known dance hall called the Barn for over thirty five years. Harold was also a rancher in Young County and after retirement owned numerous rent properties where he did the majority of repairs himself. Harold was well known driving around with his dog Killer. He was well liked by everyone; he and his good ol' stories will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two sons, Johnnye Lehr and Harold Edwin Lehr and wife Yako; two daughters, Beulah Loftis and Marsha Puddy Newsom; 2 sisters, Betty Lindley and Sonya Anderson; 6 grandchildren, John Moore, Johnna Carol Ratcliffe, Randy Harold Lehr, Jimmy Dan Lovern and Christen Natasha Lehr; 7 great grandchildren, Josh Morrison, Julia Morrison, Skyla Allen, Conner Moore, Brennan Moore, Jeffery Moore, and Taylor Moore; 2 great great grandchildren, Abram Moore and Jackson Moore; and his companion for many years, Marie Mayo.
