Graveside service was Monday, Oct. 21, in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Jimmy Brooks was born on April 3, 1929, in Melrose, N.M. He married Colleen Folsom on Aug. 19, 1950 in Clovis, N.M.
He started his work life on the railroad, and after moving to Denver City and then Seagraves, owned a service station, an auto body shop, was the Mobil Wholesale Consignee, was an aircraft pilot, ventured into the oil business, was always trading autos, tractors or machinery and finally bought a farm outside Seagraves where he raised cotton.
He traded that farm for another near Seminole upon retirement. He and Colleen then moved to Breckenridge to be near their children.
He went peacefully to reunite with Colleen and his Savior on Oct. 20 with his three daughters by his side.
He is survived by his three daughters and son-in-laws: Vinnie and Billy Yarbrough of Breckenridge, Tonya and Mike McKenzie of Breckenridge, and Shana and Brent Gooden of Aledo. He has eight grandchildren: Paige Thompson and husband Will, Erica Sherwood and husband Jef, Nathan and Jason Yarbrough, Brook Hatchett and husband Brent, Ben McKenzie and wife Maddie, Garrett Gooden and Emi Gooden.
He has 10 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Hailey and Tana Thompson, Nocona and Kutter Swindell, Madison, Maegan and Maci Hatchett, Dax Sherwood and Adam McKenzie.
There were many others that he considered his children and grandchildren including Jackie and Joe Chumley and children, Tommy and Linda Folsom and children and Ashley and Skyler Smith and children.
