It is that time of year again when Friends of Historic Breckenridge patrons reflect on what has been accomplished during the past year. What began as a dream for a group of Stephens County residents in 1995, has materialized into what our community enjoys at the historic National Theatre today and so much more than envisioned. The National Theatre has continued to expand to the adjacent buildings on the east and west side with added dressing rooms and concession stand.  The FOHB is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization formed in 1995 to revitalize the downtown of Breckenridge.
Each month the Family Movie night has provided an opportunity for the whole family to come for the movie. The last movie of the year was the annual showing of the “Polar Express.” The Family Night Movie will be continued into 2014 with family style movies that the whole family can continue to enjoy.
The National Theatre was host to the award-winning Quebe Sisters Band with their refreshing blend of music and Texas-style fiddling that packed the house. With that kind of enthusiasm and support, the FOHB hopes to bring another prominent group of similar caliber to the stage of the historic National Theatre in 2014.
Additionally, the FOHB has developed a group of  talented children from the community who entertained the audience recently in a play, “Live From Bethlehem.”  With the support of the Breckenridge community, the FOHB can continue to provide quality opportunities for whole families and the youth of our community can continue to hone their skills in more productions.
These endeavors require support from the community and it is our hope that many more will consider re-joining or becoming a member for the first time by sending your check to: Friends of Historic Breckenridge, Inc., P.O. Box 1721, Breckenridge, TX 76424.
