More than $319,370 has been raised to build a new and larger facility in Breckenridge that will offer multiple services which will be available under one roof, closer to the center of town and nearer in proximity to the Breckenridge High School.
The original Open Door facility opened in 2013 and the services offered have expanded and the number of clients requiring services is increasing.
Money began to be raised to expand the present facility and then it was determined to build an entirely new facility for Breckenridge that will encompass all the needs required for young parents to take advantage of or for a new young, single parent to get the help that she needs.
Services offered include :
• Pregnancy tests
• Diagnostic ultrasounds
• Pregnancy classes
• Parenting classes
• Life skills
• Cooking classes
• G.E.D. classes
• Marriage enrichment
• Anger Management
• Step-family success
• Financial Peace
• Job preparation
• Goal setting/tracking
• Bible Studies
• Spiritual Mentoring
Many others will be offered also.
Most of the curriculum offered is part of the “Earn While You Learn” program, where men and women can attend weekly classes and earn points toward material assistance.
An example would to earn Daddy dollars or Mommy dollars to shop in the Baby Boutique.
The program is uniquely designed to equip our clients with tools they need to make positive life changes. Families receive individual education, resource networking and encouragement to navigate through life's issues and opportunities.
The Open Door is currently focusing on and planning for the second annual Life Banquet, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15, to be held at the First United Methodist Church, in the Christian Life Center, located at 419 W. Walker in Breckenridge.
The planned banquet is an excellent opportunity for members of the Breckenridge community to help raise the needed funds to make the facility a reality in Breckenridge.
Individual tickets are $50, with opportunities for businesses, churches or individuals to become sponsors.
A Bronze sponsor is $300, a Silver sponsor is $1,000, a Gold sponsor is $2,500 and a Platinum sponsor is $5,000.
