The Breckenridge Lady Bucks gave the state's top-ranked Merkel Lady Badgers all they could handle in the first quarter.

Breckenridge lost 68-25 to the Lady Badgers.
The Lady Bucks led 11-10 with 45 seconds remaining in the first quarter before Merkel hit a bucket to claim a 12-11 advantage as the buzzer sounded.
Sophomore post Heidi O'Dell scored a basket to bring Breckenridge within one point at 14-13 with seven minutes remaining in the first half.
The Lady Badgers rolled up 21 straight points to stake a 35-13 lead at the half.
After the half, junior guard Hanna Singleton hit two 3-pointers for the Breckenridge's only third-quarter points.
Merkel led 53-19 headline into the final quarter.
"For the second game in a row, the girls executed the game plan very well in the first quarter," Lady Bucks coach Ky Graham said. "We've just got to stick with it and be consistent."
Singleton led the team in scoring with 11 points.
Junior Landre Griffin chipped in with five points while O'Dell and freshman Alexa Medina each had four points.
Sophomore guard Nocona Swindell sank a free throw for one point.
Medina pulled down a team-high four rebounds.
Singleton added three rebounds whle Swindell, O'Dell and freshman Madison Hatchett each had two rebounds.
Singleton made two steals while Swindell, O'Dell and Hatchett each had one steal.
The Lady Bucks (11-16, 3-6) host the No. 5 ranked Comanche Maidens at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25.
