The annual Salvation Army Canned Food Drive for this Christmas season will begin on Monday, Dec. 2, according to Rev. Andy Channer, chairman of the local Salvation Army Chapter.
“Christmas is about giving to others in the name of Christ. If you are looking for a meaningful way to give a gift that counts to people who really need it, please consider supporting our annual food drive for needy people,” Channer said.
There will be collection boxes at the front of Dollar General, Family Dollar and Ray's Grocery. The drive needs your help if we are to help others.
“If you can buy an extra can of food or two while shopping and drop them in a collection box, it will make a big difference. We are depending upon the community to provide the cans of food for folks in our county who might not have much food otherwise,” Channer said.
The food drive is being coordinated through the County Judge's Office, located on the main floor of the Stephens County Courthouse, and the cans of food will be stockpiled and dispensed by County Commissioners from there.
