A local man was arrested for attempted murder after he was witnessed strangling a woman at a residence on March 24.
Jim Andrus, age 60, was arrested at 202 S. Harding after a 911 call reported a man was choking a woman. Upon arrival by the local authorities, witnesses said they saw Andrus choking Laura Spray after the victim's son ran to a neighbor's house and said a man was strangling his mother.
According to the police report, Andrus and Spray were in a relationship.  Upon his arrest by Breckenridge Police Department officers Bacel Cantrell and Justin Rose, Andrus said Spray was ruining lives and that he was going to kill her. Medic One also responded to the scene. The child was released to his biological father.
