Local and area citizens will have plenty to partake in when it comes to local activities for the upcoming July 4 holiday.
The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Boomfest Fireworks and Music on the Rocks on Thursday, July 3 and the Community Choir will perform its annual patriotic program on Friday, July 4, at the Breckenridge City Park.

Boomfest Fireworks and Music at The Rocks
The 2014 Boomfest Fireworks and Music at The Rocks, hosted by the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, will take place Thursday, July 3, at The North Park (Corley's) where CR 277 and CR 278 intersect, just north of the Hubbard Creek Dam.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. The cost for the show is $10 a car load.
Half of all proceeds will go to the Caddo Volunteer Fire Department.
Boomfest will feature live entertainment by TC Fambro and The Copperheads, 2014 Breckenridge Idol winner Laci Hays, Erika Escalante, Selena O'Shields and 2013 Breckenridge Idol winner Amanda Brewster Bolgiano, who will perform the “star Spangled Banner” before the start of the fireworks show about 9:45 p.m..
Vendors will be on site selling various items, ranging from food and refreshments to glow necklaces.
Sponsors for the event include Breckenridge InterBank, GLOC Stimulation, Jonell, Inc., Quality Well Service, Clear Path Home Care, Stephens Memorial Hospital, Ezell Avionics and the Comanche Electric Cooperative Association.

• This is an alcohol-free event.
• All children must be accompanied by an adult.
• Come prepared for hot weather.
• Porta-potties will be on-site.
• Ear plugs are recommended.
• Security will be on-site and on the lake.
• All boats must be 700 feet from the shoot-site.
• Boat ramp rules will apply during the celebration.
• Parking assistance will be available.
• The event will only be rescheduled in case of severe weather or severe wind.

Community Choir, Band to perform “Celebrating America”
The annual “Celebrating America” Community Choir concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 4, at the Breckenridge City Park Pavilion. The choir will be conducted by Wayne White.
The Community Band will also perform, under the direction of Dustin Moses.
There will be a flag ceremony to recognize military veterans and active duty personnel.
The public is invited to attend the event. Attendees may want to bring a lawn chair or a blanket.
Annual Woodson 4th of July Blowout
The Woodson FFA will sponsor the 4th of July Blowout on Friday, July 4, at the Woodson Community Center. A donation meal will be provided including BBQ sandwiches, chips, homemade ice cream, peach cobbler and drinks.
Games will be featured, such as the cow chip toss, egg race, three-legged race and water balloon toss.
Drawings and door prizes will take place for gift certificates and other prizes.
The city of Woodson will host a fireworks show after dark. Vendor spots are available by donation to the FFA.

Hubbard Creek VFD to host July 4th Celebration, Golf Cart Poker Run
The Hubbard Creek VFD wants to invite the public to celebrate the 4th of July Friday, July 4, at the Hubbard Creek VFD Fire Station on Tanglewood Island.
Directions from Breckenridge: Head west from Breckenridge on 180. Turn right at Kountry Korner onto FM 2231 and head out to Tanglewood Island.
Once you are on Tanglewood Island, FM 2231 will turn into CR 197. Just stay on that road till you reach the station.
Attendees are asked to park along the road or in the grass lot north of the station.
There is limited parking beside the station and next to the door and we would like to reserve this parking for those who need to park close to the building.
This is a great opportunity to come by, see the station, visit with others from the area and enjoy your neighbors. Food is being served on a donation basis and all are welcome.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Golf Cart Poker Run for those who have golf carts, Mules, Gators, four-wheelers or other small vehicles you would like to tour Tanglewood Island on. For this event, the will be a $10 entry fee.
Rules: Participants will be given a map of places to go. When you arrive at one of the designated places, you will be given a card. Then, collect all the cards and return to the station. Whoever has the best poker hand at the end of the day will win half of the money raised from the entry fees.
After the run, we will line up the participants to do a final parade. The route is to be determined.
