Edward Curtis, age 80 of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, March 31 at Hendrick Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3rd in the Breckenridge Cemetery with Rev. W.C. Roach officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 2nd at Morehart Mortuary.
Edward Rolen Curtis was born June 23, 1933 in Hobbs, New Mexico to parents, Elbert Curtis and Ruth Hunt Curtis. Mr. Curtis grew up in Breckenridge and Cisco and later started his own drywall and painting company. He married Bettie Joe Cox on October 13, 1951 in Breckenridge. He enjoyed remote control airplanes and fishing of all kinds. Mr. Curtis was a member of Rose Ave. Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Curtis and Ruth Curtis; three sisters, Emma Lee Blackman, Mildred Moore, one infant sister; one step brother, Bill Moore.
Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bettie Curtis of Breckenridge; four children, Marie Stancel & husband Wayne of Hammon, Oklahoma, Sybil Ann Reed & husband Gary of Amarillo, Edward Curtis & wife Cynthia of Breckenridge, Bobby Curtis & wife Terrilyn of Breckenridge; one brother, Ted Moore & wife Ruth of Breckenridge; one sister, Bobbie Jean Kelly of Breckenridge; ten grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
