A graveside service will be 1 p.m. today, April 19, at Necessity Cemetery near Breckenridge.
Brother Toby Irwin of Belmore Baptist Church will officiate.
Jake was born in Breckenridge, on April 10, 1928, to William Lloyd and Mary Gray Jacobe.
He was drafted in the army and spent two years serving his country in Ft. Lewis, Washington. During his time in the Army he met his wife Ruby Helen Stallings.
In 1952, Howard and Ruby were married and went back to Washington to complete his military service.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he went to work for Mobil Oil for the remainder of his 37 year career. San Angelo became his home after retirement.
It was during this time that he realized his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot.
He enjoyed spending his free time flying and traveling with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Aliff. Jake is survived by his wife Ruby; daughters: Renee and husband Cloyd Burson and Patti and husband Brian Rader; as well as his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
