Anna Vernelle (Stevenson) Bishop, age 82, of Cross Plains went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Rising Star Nursing Center.  A celebration of her life will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Cross Plains with Burlie Taylor officiating assisted by Jimmie Mize; burial will follow in the Cross Plains Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time of 2:30 p.m.
 
Vernelle was born on February 7, 1932 to Franklin and Anna Grace (Merket) Stevenson in Snyder, Texas.  She married Dale Bishop on July 2, 1950 in Sweetwater, Texas.  She and Dale celebrated 64 years of marriage on the 2nd of July.  Vernelle was a wife, mother, homemaker and also worked as the Cross Plains City Secretary for a number of years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church as well as a member of the Dorcus Sunday School Class and served on the Hospitality Committee.
 
Survivors include her husband, Dale Bishop of Cross Plains; Wayne Bishop and wife Nancy of Brownwood; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Bishop of Abilene; sister, Betty Sheid and husband Bill; grandchildren, Brian Bishop and wife Angel, Joey Bishop and wife Angela, Rachelle Norris and husband Mark, Clint Bishop, Julie Mann and husband Kerry, and Lori Boyd and husband Chad; six great-grandchildren; and niece Melody Egger as well as a host of friends.

  She was such a beautiful woman inside as well as outside, she will be missed by all who loved her.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Larry and Tim Bishop, and a nephew Steve Forgay.
