James Milton Cox was born September 18, 1939 in Odessa, Texas to parents, James E. Cox, Jr. and LaVerna Kimble Cox. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1958 and went on to attend classes at North Texas State University, which is now the University of North Texas. Jim married Carroll Ann Rogers and she passed away January 24, 1981. Jim would later marry Diedra “Dee” L. Clark on December 25, 1983 in Breckenridge. Mr. Cox owned and operated Cox Insurance until he retired. Jim was a member of numerous organizations which include being a member of the Jay Cee's, Elks Lodge, vestry of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and a member of Texas Professional Insurance Agents. Jim loved playing cards and dominoes, trips to Las Vegas and Possum Kingdom with his family, dancing and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and LaVerna Cox; his first wife, Carroll Cox and his infant sons.
Cox is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dee Cox of Breckenridge; five children, Jay Cox & wife Jerri of Mansfield, Monica Whitworth & husband Sam of Abilene, Shawn Clark & wife Staci of Burleson, Doug Cox & wife Hazuki of Dallas, Debbie Clark & fiancé Rex of Godley; eight grandchildren, Michael Swindle, Jared Whitworth, Caleb Miller, Carrissa Clark, Clayton Ashton, Taylor Clark, Paul Clark, Ray Cox; one great grandchild, Ethan Miller and two aunts and cousins.
