Mya Swanson Ebeling

Mya Kathryn Swanson Ebeling was the first-born daughter of Howard and Patricia Swanson on Aug. 17, 1954, in Breckenridge. A smiling blonde beauty, her childhood was full of adventures with her younger sister, Lisa, on the Muleshoe Ranch. Despite her petite stature, she raised award-winning steers and heifers in 4-H. After graduating from Breckenridge High school, she traveled abroad with her sister before attending Principia College in Elsah, Ill.; Texas Tech in Lubbock, and ultimately graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

Melvin Green

Melvin Green, Sr., 82, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel, with Mark Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in the Vera Cemetery, under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at Morehart Mortuary.

Alfonso Benitez

Alfonso Benitez, 52, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Tony Castro officiating. Interment followed in the Hart Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Mary Ann “Polly” Musgrove Pitzer

Mary Ann “Polly” Musgrove Pitzer, 90, of Breckenridge, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, Feb. 13. A Requiem Mass was held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church. A reception followed in the Parish Hall. Services were entrusted to Morehart Mortuary. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 200 N. Easton in Breckenridge.

Eula Nell Dempsey

Eula Nell Anderson Dempsey passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Fort Worth, at the age of 87 years old. She was born June 5, 1934 in Woodward, Okla. and attended schools in Ranger.

She married Wesley Dempsey Feb. 1, 1951 in Ranger. They were married 51 years and raised four children. They lived six miles north of Ranger on their land, which they bought in 1955. Nell will be cremated and her ashes will be spread at a private memorial by family.

Spencer Arron Solomon

Spencer Arron Solomon, 74, passed away Monday, Feb. 14. Spencer was born Oct. 11, 1947, in Hobbs, N.M., to Spencer Solomon and Thelma Archer, and lived in Breckenridge for many years. Spencer was a Vietnam Veteran who loved riding motorcycles in his spare time. Spencer wished everyone would enjoy life and celebrate so a celebration of life ceremony will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at the Breckenridge VFW Post 7767, located at 216 E. Williams Street in Breckenridge.

David Lynn Sullivan

David Lynn Sullivan, 88, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Breckenridge. He was born May 15, 1933, in Lusk, Texas. Visitation will take place from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at the First Christian Church in Breckenridge. The family requests donations be made to the Woodson Cemetery Association in David's memory.

Opal Grimland

Opal Grimland went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Jan. 17, at the age of 102. She was a resident of Mulberry Manor, in Stephenville, at the time of her death.

Opal was born in Woodson on Dec. 12, 1919, and was one of 14 children born to James Keaton and Dilla Shaw Wright. Opal was a graduate of Woodson High School. She was married to John Dewey Belcher in 1942 in Stephenville. Following Dewey’s death in 1974, she married Yern Grimland in Hawaii in 1975.

Sue Ann Grace Boland

On Friday, Jan. 28, Sue Ann Grace Boland, 87, succumbed from challenges as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on April 25, 2009 and COVID-19. Born to Ross and Jewel Elms Grace on Oct. 27, 1934, in Haskell, Sue attended schools in Beattie, DeLeon, Scranton and Breckenridge, graduating in May 1956​. On June 17, 1950, Sue married Bill Boland at the home of the United Methodist Church District Superintendent, The Reverend John Lightfoot in Cisco. They shared 64 years together.
