Not only are the No. 1 ranked Merkel Lady Badgers talented, they are extremely tall.
The Lady Badger's front court had two players listed at 6-2 or taller.
Breckenridge fell to Merkel 83-23.
"There's not much to say after a game like that," Lady Bucks coach Ky Graham stated. "They are a very good team and are ranked No. 1 for a reason. Over the past one and a half seasons, they've lost one game."
Breckenridge trailed 24-7 after the opening period and went into the halftime break facing a 46-12 deficit.
The Lady Bucks sank only five baskets in the game.
One bright spot for the Breckenridge offense was free throw shooting. The Lady Bucks connected on 13 of 21 attempts.
Junior post Megan Herrington led the team with seven points.
Sophomore Heidi O'Dell and freshman Alexa Medina chipped in with four points apiece.
Senior Ashly Fambro, juniors Hanna Singleton and Landre Griffin, along with freshman Madison Hatchett each had two points.
Singleton and Medina grabbed three rebounds apiece.
Sophomore Nocona Swindell swiped a team-high three steals.
The Lady Bucks travel to Comanche to take on the No. 5-ranked Maidens at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21.
