It would be difficult to face a more difficult four-game stretch to open district play than the Breckenridge Lady Bucks have had to tackle.
The Lady Bucks have gone up against three teams that are ranked in the top 10. Friday night in Comanche, the Lady Bucks squared off against the No. 8 ranked Maidens.
Breckenridge fell to Comanche 72-39.
The Maidens looked worthy of their high ranking as they raced to a 24-9 lead after the first quarter. Comanche built that into a 50-16 advantage at the halftime break.
The Lady Buck won the second half by a score of 23-22, but the outcome was already settled.
"There isn't much to say after a game like that," Lady Bucks coach Ky Graham said. "I'm proud of our girls for the way they played in the second half. They kept working hard and competed the entire game. We've had a tough stretch and now we need to use the tournament to get us ready for the rest of district play."
Junior guard Hanna Singleton and freshman guard Maci Patterson tied for team-high scoring honors with 10 points apiece.
Patterson knocked down two shots from beyond the arc while Singleton added one 3-pointer.
Junior post Megan Herrington chipped in with six points. Sophomore post Heidi O'Dell and freshman Alexa Medina tallied four points apiece.
