Lady Bucks junior Brooke Moss blasted a home run and two triples as Breckenridge defeated Goldthwaite 12-5 on Tuesday.
Freshman Heather Reatherford tossed 51/3 innings, limiting the Lady Eagles to just five hits. She registered 10 strikeouts.
Moss came in for the final 12/3 innings of no-hit relief.
Goldthwaite grabbed an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning.
The Lady Bucks cut the lead to 2-1 when Moss tripled home senior Janie Davis in the bottom of the first.
Janie Davis drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 2-2.
Moss lead of the bottom of the third with a solo-blast that cleared the left-field fence.
Reatherford knocked in senior Ashly Fambro with a bases-loaded single.
Freshman Emma Davis scored later in the same inning on a passed ball.
Goldthwaite tied the game at 5-5 with three runs in the top of the fourth.
Junior Tara Maxwell and sophomore Morgan Thompson added RBIs to put Breckenridge ahead 7-5 after the fourth inning.
The Lady Bucks blew the game open with a five-run fifth.
Junior Taylor Herrington and Fambro each had two RBIs while Thompson added one.
Fambro and Thompson each had three hits. Senior Kala Young added two singles.
Reatherford, Janie Davis, Emma Davis, Herrington and Maxwell had one hit apiece.
The Breckenridge JV fell 17-3 to Bryson in their season opener.
Freshman Eline Bandy smashed a triple and a single while knocking in three RBIs.
Sophomores LaQuishea Coleman and Kenzie Donaldson also had hits.
The Lady Bucks wrap-up play today, Mar. 2, in the Wichita Falls tourney before opening district play on the road at Cisco in a 6:30 clash with the Lady Loboes. The JV starts at 5 p.m.
