The Breckenridge Bucks defense produced seven steals in the first quarter to trigger a 21-12 lead after eight minutes.
Breckenridge (21-3, 9-0) rode that momentum to a 64-44 victory over the visiting Comanche Indians.
The victory keeps Breckenridge perfect in district play and atop the standings. Clyde and Eastland are tied for second-place at 6-3.
The Bucks were able to expand the first-quarter lead to 36-20 as the teams headed in to the locker room for the halftime break.
"We did a great job of executing the press and rotating to make stops," Bucks coach Rob Ogle said. "Our pressure took them out of a rhythm and gave us some easy baskets."
Breckenridge maintained their 16-point advantage headline into the final quarter at 49-33.
"We had a little lapse on defense in the third quarter," Ogle said. "They made a run and cut the lead down to 12 points. I was happy with how we responded out of that and kept our intensity throughout the game."
Junior guard Caleb Spoon scorched the Indians for 11 first-quarter points while sophomore guard Anthony Ramirez added six points in the opening period.
Ramirez had an outstanding overall game. He led the Breckenridge defense with eight steals, dished out a team-high nine assists while finishing with eight points.
The Bucks offense moved the ball well and picked up 19 assists in their 27 baskets.
Spoon led the team in scoring with 24 points. He also swiped seven steals and dished out five asists.
Junior Clay Boaz contributed 12 points, including two 3-pointers.
Senior post Lane Morris chipped in with 11 points.
Senior guard Gerardo Duron and junior Rigo Gallegos each scored four points. Senior post Alex Benitez added a free throw for one point.
Gallegos grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Ramirez totaled four rebounds while Benitez, Duron, Boaz and Morris each added three. Sophomore Alain Franco had one rebound.
Boaz accounted for three steals and two assists.
Morris handed out two assists while Gallegos had one assist.
The Bucks will celebrate Senior Night at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, when they host Dublin.
