The Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos defeated the Merkel Badgers 73-56 Friday evening in Merkel to improve their district record to 1-1.
“We played very well in the first and fourth quarter,” said head coach Ky Graham. “The press seemed to wear them (Merkel) down at the end and we were able to turn their turnovers into easy points.”
“We had a good game rebounding with 54 rebounds,” said Graham. “ It was nice to get that first district win on the road.”
The Lady Bucks held a 22-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and were able to hold to the lead 40-30 at halftime despite an 18-point second quarter by Merkel.
