The Lady Bucks went into Tuesday’s game with a bit of a chip on their shoulders trying to knock off the District 7-2A second place Comanche Maidens.
For the Lady Bucks a series of miscues proved to be the difference in the game as Breckenridge returned home with a 12-0 defeat in five innings.
Head coach Gary Mayfield said the errors and a not up to par hitting performance haunt the Lady Bucks.
“We didn’t hit the ball well against Comanche and committed too many errors in the game,” said Mayfield. “I felt like if you take away the errors, it would have been a much closer ball game. It’s hard to beat a good team like Comanche with that many errors. But we will work on that down the stretch in these last few games and see what it leads to. The road to the playoffs will be a tough one from here.”
The Lady Bucks recorded just two hits in the game with a single by Emma Davis in the second inning and a single by Taylor Herrington in the fourth inning.
Herrington pitched 22/3 innings and allowed five hits, 11 runs, (one earned) with two walks.
Brooke Moss pitched 11/3 innings and allowed two hits and one earned run with two strikeouts.
The Lady Bucks will play at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, in Dublin.
