Stephens County to allow 50% occupancy for businesses

Tue, 05/05/2020 - 9:06 am

Stephens County has applied and are allowed to begin Phase 2 of the Governors Strike Force to Reopen Texas Report. The report allow counties to strategically reopen businesses around the state.

Phase 2 allows the county to reopen business with 50 percent occupancy in an effort to restart the Texas economy.

The plan is detailed in Governor Greg Abbott’s recently released Strike Force to Reopen Texas Report.

“As we open Texas, we are each called upon to be Texans,” Governor Abbott said. “To act responsibly as we re-engage in the economy, to continue following all health precautions and sanitizing guidelines, and to care for our vulnerable neighbors. Lives depend on our actions. I know you will respond as Texans.”

In a comprehensive 66 page plan, Governor Abbott works with medical experts and the Special Advisory Council of 39 business leaders in “sharing innovative ideas to help businesses strategically open while containing the spread of COVID-19.”

Last week, Stephens County and most of Texas were in Phase 1 of the Governor’s plan.

Phase 1 allows for businesses to reopen but mandates that businesses can be filled with 25% occupancy.

With the county beginning Phase 2 of the Governor’s plan, this phase allows the state to “deploy self-reporting solution, launch a COVID-19 contact tracing call center, initiate communication plan for the public to obtain information and self-report symptoms. The plan will also allow the state to identify and train additional workforce workers, according to the Governors Strike Force to Reopen Texas Report.

With businesses opening, such as restaurants, the state has guidelines for businesses  to follow. Parties maintain at least 6 feet distance apart from other parties at all times, including while waiting to be seated in the restaurant.

According to the Governors Strike Force to Reopen Texas Report, restaurants should “make a hand sanitizing station available upon entry to the restaurants . No tables of more than 6 people. Do not leave condiments, silverware, flatware, glassware, or other traditional tabletop items on an unoccupied table. Provide condiments only upon request, and in single-use (non-reusable) portions. Use disposable menus (new for each patron) and if a buffet is offered, restaurant employees serve the food to customers. Contactless payment is encouraged. Where not available, contact should be minimized.
