Stephens County confirms another COVID-19 case

Tue, 06/16/2020 - 9:16 am

Stephens Memorial Hospital officials have confirmed another positive case of the COVID-19 virus within the community.

The number of cases is now a total of five individuals who have tested positive for the virus with four individuals recovering.

Dr. Kelli Windsor, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the Breckenridge Medical Center provided an update to Stephens County citizens via Facebook on the situation.

“One of our staff members here at Breckenridge Medical Clinic was diagnosed with coronavirus,” Dr. Windsor said. “She began developing symptoms Friday night, from my understanding, and over the weekend it got worst. She has not been at work this week and she was tested on Monday for the coronavirus. The test results came back positive yesterday(Wednesday, June 10). As soon as we found that out, we stopped seeing patients in the clinic just because some of us could have been exposed during her asymptomatic period before she started to show symptoms. We immediately contacted the health department and their advice was for us to not see patients until we had all been tested. We were all… and we are awaiting those results at this time.”
