Walker-Sayle on lockdown due to increase of COVID-19

The Walker-Sayle prison unit is on lockdown for the second time in recent months after a spike in COVID-19 active cases. The prison has 21 active cases and 49 individuals have recovered as of November 19.

The unit also has three employees as active cases while 23 employees have recovered. The Walker-Sayle Unit has 194 individuals under medical restriction, and 21 under medical isolation, according to statistics from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

During an outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in August with 75 reported positive, the unit went into lockdown the first time. This is all according to data from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).

The data also counts three employees as active cases, and seven employees as recovered. TDCJ data showed 244 individuals with medical restrictions at the facility, and 75 individuals are medically isolated.
