BISD confirms second student; staff member testing positive for COVID-19

    A second student has tested positive for COVID-19 virus, confirmed by BISD. The school district also confirmed a staff member tested positive for the virus.

The Breckenridge Independent School District confirmed a second student and the first staff member has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The announcement came in a notification from BISD Superintendent Bryan Allen.

“We are notifying all families and staff members that the district received notice today that two additional individuals on the high school campus have tested positive for COVID-19,” a notification from BISD stated. “A student who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the campus of Breckenridge High School on Thursday, August 27, 2020. In addition, a staff member who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the campus of Breckenridge High School on Friday, August 28, 2020.”

BISD notified families on the afternoon of Thursday, August 27, and after a case investigation, BISD determined that over 35 students came into close contact with the individual who tested positive for the virus.

BISD notified families on the afternoon of Thursday, August 27, that a student’s testing was lab-confirmed to have the COVID-19 virus. BISD officials became aware of the positive testing on the Breckenridge High School on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
