Breckenridge appoints new Police Chief

In a unanimous decision, the Breckenridge City Commissioners appointed Lt. Bacel Cantrell as the new Breckenridge Police Chief. Current Police Chief Larry Mahan had announced his retirement on Nov. 5 and was present for the appointment.
Cantrell is a Breckenridge High School graduate in 2002 and began his law enforcement career in 2006 when he served as jail administer for Stephens County. He served for four years before becoming a Juvenile Supervision Officer for a year. Cantrell came back to Breckenridge in 2011 where he has served as a patrolman, investigator and Lieutenant for the Breckenridge Police Department.
