Alvarado crowned homecoming queen

Thu, 10/05/2017 - 10:26 am

Last week’s homecoming festivities capped off with Surisadai Alvarado named homecoming queen at halftime of last Friday night’s homecoming game against Dublin.

Lauren Satterwhite, the Breckenridge High School 2016 homecoming queen, crowned Alvarado during a halftime ceremony that capped off a week of activities.

“I’m pretty surprised, but excited.” Alvarado said. “I was shocked and excited that my peers and classmates thought of me. I’m very appreciative.

Alvarado is the daughter of David and Marta Alvarado and preempted her crowning with a pre-game performance along with her fellow “Pride of Breckenridge” High School Marching band members. Although happy to be homecoming queen, Alvarado said she would have been content with a nomination and the recognition by her fellow classmates.

"It was a little nerve racking, but I was fine either way. Just being nominated was enough for me.”

Senior Anthony Pichler was crowned homecoming king during a pep rally earlier that day and said his selection adds just one more fond memory to an long, and growing list.

“It’s really rewarding going through all 12 years of school and end up as homecoming king,” Pichler said.  “… It’s just fun being a senior and having all of these memories. It’s overwhelming, a little bit. It’s going to be a fun year.”

Other students recognized Friday include junior princess and prince Alyssa Reyes and Kevin Franco, sophomore princess and prince Kinley Kanady and Tristan Garcia and freshman princess and prince Hannah Pennartz and Colby Stober.
