Bean and Cornbread Contest coming to Breck Trade Days

The city of Breckenridge will be hosting a Bean and Cornbread contest on Saturday, Oct. 20.

The contest is open to all and there will be three categories, which are booth decoration, beans and cornbread.

The competition is set to kick off at 9:30 a.m. in the Trade Barn at the Breckenridge City Park. Bean and cornbread judging will commence at 11:30 a.m. The booth judging will be at noon.

Each contestant can is allowed one entry per category. There will be electricity provided at the barn. Contestants may prepare the dishes partially at home but they must be finished on-site. Competitors will need to bring their own equipment, table and ingredients.

For the judging, competitors need to have enough beans and cornbread to provide judges with one pan of cornbread and one pint of beans. Please keep in mind to make enough beans and cornbread for public tasting for the People’s Choice Award. The booths will be judged on creativity, theme and color. The cornbread and beans will be judged by texture, appearance and taste. The contest winners will receive a $50 cash prize in all categories. Aprons will be awarded to the People's Choice winners.
