Breckenridge Forum hears ‘The Piano Man’

The Breckenridge Woman’s Forum met Tuesday, Dec. 15 for an early Christmas program presented by ‘The Piano Man,’ Henry Lee, with holiday favorites on the agenda and some Christmas carols sung by the members. He played most of the music on the guitar, which is his favorite instrument. The Forum members gathered at 9:30 a.m. to participate in their favorite card games of Bridge and Liverpool Rummy. The high score for Bridge was won by Jean Edwards and the low score for Liverpool Rummy was won by Linda Burdic.

Later, there was a break for lunch catered by Rodney Hatfield of the Pit Stop who served baked potatoes with all the trimmings and peach cobbler. The Hostess Chair was Pat Knight and Co-Chair, Mary Thompson, who led their committee members that included Lisa Echols, Sharon Wimberley and Ann Miller.

Wimberley was also in charge of the Door Prize which was won by Helen Kuhn.

Forum Vice-President, Mary Edwards, reported on the Forum community projects for the chairman Kim Walker. There were 1,000 pairs of socks collected and donations were made for the BISD Backpack program that supplies food for the weekend and when kids are not in school.

The Forum ladies participated in the Chamber Mingle & Jingle by serving free hot chocolate and selling Texas Christmas ornaments, while the Junior Forum girls sold candles.

Woman’s Forum president, Jaclyn Morehart, also presented certificates of appreciation to the 18 Forum members who make things happen behind the scenes each month which ranged from the program chair Mary Edwards to the grounds-keeper Cindi Woodward and all those in between.

The January 26 program will be Games Day, where the members can play their favorite games from 9:30 a.m. to noon and then from 1 to 3 p.m. This luncheon is catered by the Forum board members.
