Brush Chipping Week

Wed, 10/07/2020 - 5:00 am

The City of Breckenridge and Stephens County have announced that, as a cooperative effort, they will be picking up brush with a woodchipper inside the corporate limits of Breckenridge the week of Oct. 19. It will be necessary for the citizens to have brush that they would like chipped and hauled off at curbside by Friday, Oct. 16.

No brush larger than four inch diameter will be picked up. Brush must be cut in lengths no longer than six feet long, and the butt ends MUST be placed toward the street or curb. Uprooted trees with roots attached cannot be run through the chipper. No dirt can be encrusted on the brush.

It will not be necessary to contact either the City of Breckenridge or Stephens County to receive this service, as the trucks will run the entire city during this week. This will be a service provided by the City of Breckenridge and Stephens County at no charge to the residents. This is, once again, a cooperative effort between the City of Breckenridge and Stephens County providing a service to the residents of Breckenridge for the disposal of their tree trimmings. This service has been provided to the residents inside the corporate limits of the City on a semiannual basis for several years now. The trucks will be running in separate sections of the City during this period. Any brush put at the curbside after October 16, 2020, will not be removed.

REMINDER:

Throughout the year tree limbs can be brought into the Convenience Station at no charge to customers. Convenience station hours are Tuesday thru Thursday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday & Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Should you have any questions about the disposal, please call the City Offices at (254)559-8287.
