Kaitlyn Crook, a 2020 BHS graduate received a $10,000 scholarship from Horatio Alger as a state of Texas winner.

She is one of 30 students in the state of Texas to receive this scholarship and 1 in 629 in the United States to receive this scholarship. The application process required an essay and a lengthy application.

Kaitlyn Crook will attend Angelo State University in the fall, where she plans to major in Psychology and then plans to attend graduate school.

Kaitlyn is the daughter of Kari Norred and grand daughter of Sam and Mary Norred.

Since 1984, Horatio Alger Association Members and Friends have funded needbased college scholarships for low-income youth to pursue their dreams through higher education. So far the Association has awarded more than $159 million to approximately 20,000 students.
