The folks at Lakeshore Estates, in the Village Inn area, knew how to celebrate the fourth of July in fine fashion. Jaclyn Morehart got the idea from her mother’s home town of Carthage that also has a lake community. So, Jaclyn got the ball rolling and notified neighbors at Lake Shore Estates to plan for 7 p.m. and decorate their golf carts or whatever they chose to ride in for the parade.

One of the odd combinations was a go-cart pulling a kayak with Allison Bassler in the kayak. Neal Edwards was on a bike with a great fourth of July top hat. Also, Pat and Rolling Roth had their Model T Ford of the 1929 vintage and I got to ride in the rumble seat. Mark Morehart had a train for the little folks to ride, which made their participation a great experience.

There probably were at least 25 participants with some joining the parade as it passed their home. Additionally, the lake folks came out to cheer for the parade as it passed their homes and by popular demand, the parade went on a second round and this time I rode on the back of a golf cart.

Jacklyn said, “It’s a great neighborhood with an annual cook-out, but even I was blown away by the number of participants.” Now they’re talking about a Christmas Parade decorated appropriately for the season.

Family groups participated as a group such as the Morehart clan and everyone was able to maintain the proper distancing. Except when I went to scramble out of the rumble seat. It only took two to help me get in, but several to help me out due to one leg not functioning well. Great fun was held by all and they were all looking for it to be an annual event.
