Open Door kicks off 2021 Baby Bottle Boomerang fundraiser

Wed, 01/27/2021 - 5:00 am

Open Door of Breckenridge, business, local churches, and restaurants will be working together as the 2021 Baby Bottle Boomerang fundraiser begins.

The Baby Bottle Boomerang fundraiser allows citizens, families, groups to fill up baby bottles in a fundraiser throughout the community. The idea is for citizens to filled baby bottles with cash and change to support the lives of women, men, and teens facing unplanned pregnancies.

“Every year, this fundraiser is done and allows churches to attend our luncheon to pick up the baby bottles.” Yuri Huntington, an Open Door representative, said. “Pastors and churches set up tables with pamphlets of information, and the main thing we ask is for change to be donated to fill the baby bottles.”

Empty baby bottles will be placed around the community in various businesses, churches, and restaurants. The donations will help meet financial needs and increase awareness in the community.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has plagued the country, Open Door is hoping the virus doesn’t dampen this cause.

“We didn’t have as many people at the January 6 luncheon, and that may be due to COVID,” Huntington said. “Although we had a decline, we didn’t see any drop in the churches picking up bottles, it may have hindered the luncheon, but I’m glad not the participation.”

The fundraiser is not limited to churches, citizens can pick up baby bottles at the Open Door located at 110 North Liveoak. Citizens with other questions can contact the Open Door at 254-559-4045.

“Our doors are always open,” Huntington said. “Citizens can stop by for a tour or if they want more information. We are here to help anyone in this community.”

The Open Door Pregnancy & Family Resource Centers of Breckenridge offer free pregnancy services that include pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, baby boutiques, monthly material assistance, and various classes.
