The Board of Directors of the Possum Kingdom Lake Association (PKLA) unanimously voted to donate $5,000 to each department that is considered first responders in the Lake area.

Numerous recent fires in the north part of Palo Pinto County prompted the donation. Volunteers were stretched thin with a hundred degree plus temperatures. Repairing damaged fire equipment was causing stress on the Department’s financials.

Many area Volunteer Departments canceled fundraisers this Spring and Summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic and various restrictions.

PKLA Directors are Mert Fewell, James Smith, Jeff Young, Mike Carter, Russell Madden, and Monte Land from the East Side of the lake,

Mikl Fuqua from Caddo Bay, Marsha Bettis and Brent Nance from the West Side of the lake.
