The Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary hosted 220 women Monday, Sept. 17, at the Chandelier Ridge facility south of Breckenridge for the second annual Bunco night.

This was a fundraiser event sponsored by the SMH Auxiliary to raise funds for projects at SMH and garnered more than $8,000. Currently, the auxiliary is furnishing a Hospice Room at SMH. There were 24 big item prizes that ranged from name brand purses to jewelry and a $500 gift card for groceries at United Supermarket. Additionally, a nacho bar was provided at the three-hour event. There were also gift bags to be purchased at $5 each with more prizes.

A loud bell announced the beginning of each of the 18 rounds of Bunco and soon the scream of "Bunco' could be heard throughout the room and then the bell sounded for the round to end. At the end of the evening, there were prizes for each of the 17 tables for the most losses, the most wins and the most Buncos. Then there was a drawing for the big prizes.

Sponsors for the event included First National Bank, Chandelier Ridge, Morehart Mortuary, Turner Seed, Adams Real Estate, Stephens Memorial Hospital,  Cedar Creek Taxidermy, Wallace Insurance, Breckenridge InterBank and David Russell.

"I would like to thank all the ladies who came and supported the event, our sponsors, local merchants and restaurants who donated gift certificates,” SMH Auxiliary President Suzanne Malcuit said. “And most of all, [thanks] to Chandelier Ridge for allowing us to use their beautiful facility."
