On Saturday, Oct. 6, teams from law enforcement agencies throughout the 90th Judicial District in Young and Stephens County met at the Loving Community Center and Rifle Range to participate in the second annual 90th Judicial District Attorney Shootout. Dee Peavy and her office hosted it.

The participating teams included Graham Police Department, Young County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Breckenridge Police Department, Stephens County Sheriff’s Department and the 90th Judicial District Community Supervision Department.

The multi-stage course of fire was supervised by Larry Fuller and Greg Coker, acting as Range-masters. Different stages were intended to take the participants out of their comfort zones and present them with real world scenarios, which required technical skills with both weak hand and strong hand shooting techniques, movement and shooting from cover.

Throughout the competition, all teams were competitive but when the dust finally settled theTexas Department of Public Safety edged out the last year’s winner, the Young County Sheriff’s Department for overall Top Shooting Team honors.

The individual award for “Top Shot” went to Trevor Topper of the Texas Department of Public Safety team. He was awarded a Jon Hart pistol case donated by Graham Savings and Loan. Festivities continued with a lunch furnished by Rock Bottom Barbeque, where additional prizes were awarded. Officer Justin Rose of the Breckenridge Police Department won Texas Ranger’s tickets with parking passes donated by Graham Savings and Loan.
