Agrilife to host summer classes

Registration is now open for several “summer fun classes” hosted by and held at the Stephens County Texas A&M Agrilife Extension office. Classes are available for students in grades 3rd through 12th, who can sign up for any or all of the offered classes now through Friday, June 3.

The cost of each class is $30, and students can register at www.signupgenius. com/go/4090845acaa- 2fa4f49-summer.

Payments can be made via check to Stephens County FCH; Venmo: StephensCounty-Extension Office; or PayPal: Sumer.Burns@ ag.tamu.edu. The office asks that those registering put the name of the student and the class they are paying for on the payment.

Face 101

The first class of the summer will be Face 101. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 21.

Students will learn basic skin care and makeup application, addressing appropriate makeup tips for everyday wear.

Jewelry 101

The next class will be Jewelry 101. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 22.

Students will learn the skills to design, create, market and navigate the jewelry industry.

Bead Work 101

On Thursday, June 23, the office will host Bead Work 101 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Students will learn the popular art form and skills of beading from Lazy 3 Beadwork.

Hand Lettering 101

The next class will be Hand Lettering 101. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, June 27.

Students will learn the basics of modern calligraphy. They will also learn different styles and will turn their letting into pieces of art.

Gardening 101

On Wednesday, June 29, the office will host Gardening 101 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Students will learn how to propagate, grow, and care for ornamental plants. Participants will leave with their own plants to care for at home.

Knot Tying 101

The last class of the summer will be Knot Tying 101. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 30.

Students will learn the art of knot tying and braiding, a skill which can be applied to mile tape or paracord braiding.
