A new school year has dawned and Breckenridge Independent School District teachers/ staff will welcome students back for another year of education.
In what will be his first year as Superintendent, Bryan Allen emphasizes key details that will take BISD to the next level as a school district.
“First and foremost is creating a safe educational environment with school safety,” Superintendent Allen said. “How safe and secure our campuses are, the safety and security of our students using new technology are some of the things we are going to focus on.”
Superintendent Allen provided scholars, parents, and members of the community with a welcome message to all ages for the 2020-2021 school year.
“Secondly, we want to create a student-centered school,” Allen said. “We want the student to be apart of their learning and be the leader of their learning. The teachers will be the facilitators, guides to help the student during this process, but the students are going to be in charge of what they learn.”
With school beginning today, August 19, students are arriving on campus for another year of learning.
“Third, we want to build and model life long learning,” Allen said. “Learning is not something you do through the twelfth grade or college and it’s over. I think any of the staff can contest that they are continuously learning, so it is something we want to model. It’s something we want to build in our students and model for them.”
Superintendent Allen also provided input on technology integration within the district to better facilitate learning for students.
“We’re going to make a big push to integrate technology tools into our classroom at all levels,” Allen said. “ The school board has dedicated some funds to purchase new devices to have technology in more kid’s hands in the very near future.”
The final message from Superintendent Allen was to “foster collaborative partnership.”
The superintendent is looking for input from the community to assist with the pursuit of excellence for Breckenridge ISD students.
