Gas

Gas prices this week rose 1.7 cents per gallon in Texas, bringing the average cost to $1.94 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. Nationally, gas prices went up by 0.6 cents, bringing the average total to $2.24 per gallon. In Texas, gas prices are 35.4 cents lower than this time last year and are 6.3 cents lower than this time last month. Nationally, gas prices have dropped 29.1 cents since this time last year and 10.4 cents since this time last month. GasBuddy does a daily survey of 13,114 stations in Texas and release a weekly report. This data is taken from that report.

Weather

Weather this week  was mild with no perception and some clouds. It began in the 60s and by the end dropped into the 50s and 40s. We can expect the weather to sit in the 50s and 60s this weekend with some clouds, but mostly sun. Next week will feature more of the same, with some clouds and sun, with the temperature sitting in the 50s and 60s.

Sanctity of Life day

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared Jan. 22, 2019 to be Sanctity of Human Life Day, according to a release from his office. The day is centered around honoring and advocating for unborn children. The release states abortion is outlawed after 20 weeks in Texas.

Rep. Conway introduces trade act regarding China

U.S. Rep Mike Conway for District 11 reintroduced the Fair Trade with China Enforcement Act, according to a release from his office. The act is designed to safeguard American assets from China and protect American businesses. The legislation was reintroduced in partnership with U.S. Rep Tim Ryan, from Ohio’s 13th district.

Hubbard Creek fishing report

Water is stained and sits between 43 to 48 degrees, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife’s weekly fishing report. Black bass are fair on jigs and drop shot rigs, while crappie are fair on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on live and cut bait.
