Gas

Gas prices in Texas fell 5.6 cents during the week of Oct. 29, bringing prcies to $2.56 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey. Nationally, prices fell a little less than 3 cents in the same time span. Prices nationally sit at $2.81 per gallon. Compared to this time last year, prices are about 32 cents higher per gallon, but about 7 cents less than this time last month. Prices nationwide have dropped 7 cents since last month, but are about 35 cents higher than this time last year. GasBuddy does a daily survey that looks at over 13,000 gas stations in Texas.

Weather

Weather last week started off a bit warm, staying in the mid 80s. Though, showers on Wednesday cooled down the area for the remainder of the week, bringing half-an-inch of rain and cooler weather ranging from the 60s and 70s for the rest of the week. The weekend saw mostly sunny and warm weather. This week’s forecast has weather ranging in the high 50s to low 60s, and anticipated showers in the beginning of the week, followed by mostly sunny weather to carry us into the weekend.

Football

The Breckenridge Buckaroos fell to 3-6 Friday night in a nailbiter against the Wall Hawks. In what was a back and forth game throughout, the Bucks had the ball with roughly two minutes left down 22-28. Getting the ball to the Hawks 16-yard-line, Quarterback Kevin Franco was sacked on the last play of the game, making the Bucks 1-3 in district. The Hawks meanwhile, are now 4-0 in district. The Bucks last regular season game will come next week against Clyde, who has the same record as the Bucks in both overall and district.

The Chamber Dinner

The Chamber of Commerce held their 100th annual auction and banquet dinner at the Ag Barn Saturday. The event offered a dinner to attendees and more than $20,000 in auction and raffle prizes, according to the Chamber’s flier. The Chamber was able to raise ----- from the event.

Voting

Early voting ended Friday, meaning the last day of voting will be on Election Day this Tuesday, Nov. 6. According to the Stephens County Tax Assessment office, the county had 1,896 in-person votes. This compares with the 2014 midterms, where they had 824. If you did not participate in early voting, Tuesday would have been your last day to do so.
