Gas

Gas prices in Texas fell 6.5 cents during the week leading up to Nov. 5, which brought the state average to $2.48 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey. This compares with gas nationally, which fell 7 cents, bringing the average gallon of gas to $2.73 across the U.S. Compared to this time last year, gas prices are 23.3 cents higher in Texas, and 20.0 cents higher nationwide. Gas prices are a little more than 18 cents lower than this time last month in Texas, and almost 18 cents lower than last month on the national level. This data comes from GasBuddy’s daily survey, which involves surveying over 13,000 gas stations in the state.

Weather

Weather last week remained mild, with temperatures early in the week staying in the 80s. The latter half of the week came with some cloudy weather, cooling things down to the 60s and 70s. This weekend we can expect more clouds, with the temperature projected to remain in the mid 50s. While it is early, next week is projected to be mostly sunny with weather remaining between the high 40s and getting warmer as the week goes on, ending in the 50s and 60s.

Commissioners meeting

The Breckenridge City Commissioners met on Tuesday and passed a series of ordinances, as well as held a public hearing on the classification of townhouses in the city code. The ordinances passed included stricter rules and regulations for panhandlers within city limits and raising gas rates. A new parking ordinance that dictates specific places residents may no longer park their vehicles was tabled as well for the next meeting. Election

Texas has elected to stay red as Republicans dominated the races. Outside of the U.S. House of Representatives, not one Democrat one an election.

This includes the Senate race, the Governors race, the state Supreme Court races and other state-level races. Nationally, the Democrats took control of the House, while Republicans gained seats in the Senate. This is the first time since 1984 the Democrats have won the House while Republicans controlled the Senate while Republican president was in office. Taste of the Holidays

The Rotary Club of Breckenridge held their annual Taste of the Holidays at the Popular Tuesday evening. It was the third annual of its kind and included food tasting from local restaurants and businesses. Live music was also played, as well as a drawing. The event is one of the major fundraising events held by the Rotary Club.

Bucks beat Clyde

The Breckenridge Buckaroos are going to the playoffs. After a 4-6 campaign that ended with a 28-0 win over Clyde on Friday, The Bucks will play Brock for a chance to move on this season. The game will be in Abilene on Thursday, with kickoff at 7 p.m. Brock is sitting at 9-1 and beat Breckenridge earlier in the season. The Breckenridge American will have updates and scores to that and other games on Friday.
