Homecoming week

This week, Breckenridge will celebrate Homecoming with a variety of events and festivities throughout the week. The schools will celebrate with dress-up themes, and have special menu items for lunch. The themes are as followed:

• Monday: Athletes vs. mathletes

• Tuesday: Tourists

• Wednesday: Twins Day

• Thursday: Super heroes

• Friday: Greenout

On Wednesday evening, the homecoming will commence at 6:30 p.m. There is still no official trail set due to construction. After the parade, there will be a mini-pep rally right by the courthouse.

On Thursday, they will hold a homecoming court practice during Buck Time. Later on that day, the junior varsity team will play Dublin on the road, with freshmen kicking off at 5 p.m. and JV at 6:30 p.m. The middle school teams will play at Bucks stadium.

On Friday, the 2018 homecoming pep rally begins at 10 a.m., with varsity cheerleaders leading the rally. Prior to the game, the high school band will play at 7 p.m. instead of halftime. The football game against Dublin kicks off at 7:30 p.m.. During half-time, the Homecoming Court Presentation will be held. On Saturday, the Lady Bucks will play Boyd on the road.

For more information on Homecoming week, visit the district's website.

State reps visit the area

On Wednesday, a number of state and national representatives will be visiting the area, with a state senators Charles Perry and State Rep. Mike Lang hosting a townhall from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the TSTC-Breckenridge Technology Center. We had initially reported Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke will be in Mineral Wells on Wednesday, Sept. 26. This event will not be taking place until Oct. 12.

Bucks volleyball

The Lady Bucks will face Millsap on Tuesday and then on Saturday go to Boyd. They are currently 0-4 in division and have a 3-12 record overall on the year. Both JV teams are having better seasons in terms of record. Division games have proven to be a tough challenge for the Lady Bucks this season. After Millsap and Boyd, there are seven games remaining.

Bucks football

The Buckaroos will host the Dublin Lions on Friday, who are currently 4-0 and coming off a 20-7 win against Brady High School. The Bucks visited Brock last Friday and lost 20-9 in the middle of a rainstorm. The Bucks are currently 2-2 and have struggled on offense as of late. Last year, Dublin visited Breckenridge in September and won 27-24. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will have the Homecoming Court ceremony at half-time.

Weather

Weather this week should be more clear than last, with showers projected mildly on a couple of days. Most of the week is expected to be in the high 70s to low 80s and be partly cloudy. This weekend we can expect to see more storms.
