Award banquet honors SCJLS winners, participants with checks, buckles

The Ag Barn in Breckenridge hosted the Stephens County Junior Livestock Show and Sale Awards Banquet Thursday, Jan.

24. The event featured food for attendees, and announced the winners from the livestock show, which was held about two weeks ago.

The event doubled as a celebration of the process of working with livestock. Participants, many of who are children, were honored for their showmanship of the animals they worked with, while some received checks for selling their livestock at auction.

After the opening ceremonies, which included the Pledge of Allegiance and the pledge of the 4-H officers, the winners were announced. First the Herdsman Awards, then the Buckle Presentation, which had grand champions and reserved champions for each livestock category.

The night also featured the recognition of its sponsors, and the presentation of the checks. Rick and Leslie Hamilton were also honored at the event for being the top buyers.

The event closed out with a speech from 2020 Stock Show Chairman Will Thompson. Attendees assisted in cleanup then they adjourned.
