BHS band presents awards

At the closing event of the year, the Breckenridge High School Band had their Band Banquet provided by the Pit Stop.

Mr. William Odom, the BHS Band Director and the Assistant BHS Band Director, James Wilhite first distributed the letter “B” awards to the BHS Band members.

The freshman class members included: Melissa Aguilar, Valerie Beltran, Braye Cantrell, ZoeJane Curtis, Emily Folsom, Emily Gooch, Alan Linden, Aston Martin, Marissa Martinez, Caius Matheson, Alondra Mendoza, Kasen Mercer, Valeria Robledo, Natalee Rodriguez, Taryn Russell, Jadyn Schkade and William Wade.

The sophomore members to receive the Letter “B” award included: McKenna Adams, Sophia Aguillon, Phynas Bacon, Sadie Bailey, Kylee Bevering, Tayann Cates, Amelia Diaz, Eugenia Duran, Tabitha Gonzales, Jaycie Hare, Kali Linden, Jake Malcuit, Bradley Martin, Elena Martin, Jose Mendoza, Monserat Mendoza, Tristen Myers, Ximena Navarrete, Emilly Newbrough, Laisha Palacios, Magdalyn Paul, Elizabeth San Lucas, Yalid Saucedo, Braxton Wade, Erick Williamson and Chase Wright.

The junior members to receive the Letter “B” award included: Timothy Adams, Adyne Craighead, Roman Gonzales, Tyler Gonzales, Efrain Hernandez, Joaquin Hernandez, Kade Herring, Naydeli Ibarra, Trevon Loggains, Alexis Matthews, Diana Mendoza, Elizabeth Palacios, Lydia Quick, Nora Ramirez, Adrian Rodriguez, Payton Russell, Jeremy Weaver and Abigail Wylie.

Finally, the senior members to be awarded the Letter “B” includes: Nathaniel Barrera, Bethany Boone, Emily Brannon, Alexander Cooper, Trinity Cooper, Robert Duncan, Isaac Duran, Angel Gray, Jaiden Hitch, Jordan Miller, Yesenia Salazar and Kayla Wood.

The Honor Band members were recognized who qualified to play in the Symphonic Band at Texas University in San Marcos. Those members included Emily Gooch, Lydia Quick, Jeremy Weaver, Jake Malcuit, Magdalynn Paul, Payton Russell and Saidei Bailey.

The members of the Solo/Ensemble were recognized and included: Jose Mendoza, Jeremy Weaver, Spencer Ortega, Magdalynn Paul, Saidei Bailey and Emily Folsom. A quartet was made up of Emily Gooch, Elena Martin, Cauis Matheson and Lydia Quick. Emily Gooch also had a solo.

Next, Mr. Odom and Mr. Wilhite awarded the Marching Band Class Awards. The Freshman was Kasen Mercer (who was not present for award), The Sophomore recipient was Elizabeth San Lucas, the Junior was Nora Ramirez and the Senior was Isaac Duran.

Additionally, the BHS Drumline was recognized and awarded a trophy for their contribution this past year and their names are Isaac Duran, Timothy Adams, Elizabeth San Lucas, McKenna Adams, Joaquin Hernandez, Spencer Ortega and Trevon Loggains.

The Most Improved in each class was awarded a trophy and included:

Freshman - Natalee Rodriguez

Sophomore - Monserat Mendoza (Monse)

Junior - Elizabeth Palacios

Senior - Bethany Boone

The Special Concert Season Class Awards were presented to:

Freshman Class Award - Emily Gooch

Sophomore Class Award - Jake Malcuit

Junior Class Award - Diana Mendoza

Senior Class Award - Nate Barrera

The special Band Member of the Year Award was presented to Kayla Wood, who has been the Drum Major of the BHS Band and the recognized leader of the BHS Band.

The new Drum Major is Diana Mendoza and the Assistant Drum Major is Monserat Mendoza
