The Pride of Breckenridge High School Band earned standout honors at the Texas Music Educators’ Association (TMEA) Region 7 All-Region auditions last week, with six Buckaroo musicians securing placements in the prestigious All-Region ensembles and four of those advancing to the Area level in January.

The All-Region auditions took place Saturday, Dec. 6 at Graham High School and will lead into the area competitions and jazz clinic and concert in January.

Honors Band Selections

  • Jett Barrow, 9th grade – 1st Chair Alto Saxophone, advances to 3A Area
  • Adrian Saucedo, 12th grade – 1st Chair Baritone Saxophone, advances to 4A Are
  • Matthew Wunsch, 11th grade – 4th Chair Trumpet, advances to 3A Area
  • Anthony Munoz, 12th grade – 2nd Chair Tuba, advances to 3A Area

Symphonic Band Selections

  • Trip Barrow, 11th grade – 3rd Chair Bass Trombone
  • Rylee Fuller, 11th grade – 19th Chair Trumpet

These results highlight the strength of Breckenridge’s music program and the dedication of its student performers. Earning a chair in the All-Region Band is a significant accomplishment, as auditions draw top musicians from across the area. Advancing to the Area level places students one step closer to qualifying for the All-State Band, the highest honor for Texas high school musicians.

The advancing Honors Band students will compete again in January at the Area competition, where they will vie for a coveted spot in the All-State Band.

Meanwhile, the Symphonic Band members will participate in the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) High School Region Jazz Clinic and Concert, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 16 through Saturday, Jan. 17 at Graham High School. The clinic will feature two days of rehearsals and masterclasses, culminating in a public concert that showcases the region’s top young jazz musicians.
