Tue, 06/22/2021 - 9:35 am

The Breckenridge ISD school board met Monday, June 14 in a regular meeting to discuss the construction and repurposing of existing district facilities. They also heard presentations from the appraisal district and the chief learning officer and had an update from the athletic director.

Facilities assessment
The board heard from Keith Scharnhorst, of Gallagher Construction Services, about the facilities assessment regarding all BISD property. Some school districts the construction company has served include Ponder, Baird, Huckabay, Rotan and Throckmorton.

In their assessment, the company looked at the grade levels that utilize the building, square footage and how to accommodate future use with changing technology. They also looked at current average daily attendance numbers and the possible changes which could happen over the next five or 10 years. Due to COVID-19, the company also has to be aware of planning for germ-free facilities.
