BISD, BPD investigating former head coach

Tue, 06/29/2021 - 8:57 am

Editor’s note: The investigation of this matter is still ongoing. The Breckenridge American will not be releasing the name of the student involved, as details pertaining to the case are still developing.

Last week, Breckenridge ISD Superintendent Bryan Allen released a statement confirming the investigation and resignation of head baseball coach Kevin Bartley II. Bartley is being investigated for “alleged improper electronic communications” with a student.

“... The employee has resigned and the District is cooperating with the Breckenridge Police Department, which continues to investigate the matter,” Allen said in a press release. “This appears to be an isolated incident and the parents of the student in question have been contacted. The District cannot provide further details as this is a confidential student matter and personnel matter, but as always the safety of students remains first and foremost.”

Allen said that the incident was reported via an employee report, and that he was made aware of the situation Tuesday, June 15. The district contacted the Breckenridge Police Department immediately afterward.
